Day Tour package with Sasak tradition: Nyongkolan and Begawe
This package provides a unique viewing experience the two most sacred traditions in Sasak culture, namely Nyongkolan and Begawe. You will witness firsthand how the community celebrates traditional weddings with a festive procession of the bride and groom, accompanied by traditional beleq drum music and complete traditional clothing. The feeling of happiness and togetherness is so felt when this procession crosses the village road to the bride's House.
No less interesting, you will also be introduced to Begawe tradition, which is a joint dinner party that is an important part of Sasak traditional events. Served by mutual assistance by residents, you can taste typical Lombok cuisine such as ayam taliwang, plecing kangkung, and nasi balap, straight from the traditional kitchen of the community. 09.00-following the ritual and process Begawe
The event began by following the tradition Begawe, which is a traditional party held to welcome and celebrate weddings. You will follow the procession directly, ranging from joint prayers, symbolic processions between families, to eating together.
13.00 - preparation and wearing of traditional Sasak clothing
After the begawe procession and eating a meal, guests are welcome to sit in the customary beruga while resting then you will be helped to wear traditional clothing typical of the Sasak tribe. Men will wear sapuq (headband), dodot (cloth), and traditional clothes, while women wear woven fabrics and scarves. You will feel like a part of the community!
15: 00-Following The Procession Nyongkolan
The next event is Nyongkolan procession, usually in the early afternoon, this event is a procession of the groom walking towards the bride's House. You will take part in the procession with local guests, accompanied beleq drum musicdance, and cheers of joy. This is a rare opportunity to blend in with the local culture directly and feel the atmosphere of a traditional Sasak wedding.
You can interact with local residents, take pictures, or ask directly about the meaning and symbols that exist in Sasak wedding customs. Our Guide will be ready to translate and bridge your communication.
16.00-transfer to Hotel or next destination
The trip closes with a drop-off back to your desired hotel or end point. The Tour finishes with a rare, immersive, and meaningful cultural experience of Lombok's indigenous traditions.
